Louis Vuitton begins a new chapter in Singapore with an exclusive retail “Apartment” space at Ngee Ann City.
The spirit of travel is synonymous with Louis Vuitton, and that connection flows through the maison’s new space at Takashimaya S.C., Ngee Ann City, the first of its kind in the world. Referred to as the “Apartment” and designed to feel like one, a walk through the space feels like travelling of sorts, a journey through the story of Louis Vuitton, past and present.
The discovery begins with a showcase of archival pieces, from restored trunks suspended by hot-air balloons to contemporary icons. A right turn takes you to the main hall (above), the heart of the apartment that branches out into three salons – one each for the women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections, and one for the high jewellery and watches collections.
Spacious yet intimate, an amalgamate of smooth curves and sleek lines, details abound in the space. Cool and warm tones hark back to waves and sunsets. Abstract floral sculptures and wall details inspired by the frangipani tree pay homage to our Garden City. The fittings across the apartment are attractions in themselves, a journey for the senses: a rock crystal coffee table, Damier plaster walls dusted with gold powder, a vintage 1970 chandelier, textured cushion covers crafted from unused fabrics from Louis Vuitton’s ready-to-wear atelier. Even the changing rooms, designed to look and feel like hotel rooms, fit the travel narrative.
The ultimate shopping journey for the maison’s clients, visits are by appointment only, making the experience truly exclusive.
