Carey Mulligan and her stylist Andrew Mukamal continued to take inspiration from the archives for her 2024 Oscars red carpet looks; specifically the ’50s.
I would love celebrities to pull from the Balenciaga archives more often, however, Carey’s gown was a recreation, which was a first time the label have done this for the red carpet.
I want to say that this is her best look of awards season, but it’s so hard to be clear because they have all been equally mind-blowing.
I’m sure you have noticed the return of the mermaid gown – with various degrees of success – but this is the first one with a contrast hem which adds to the dynamic nature of the look and the old Hollywood feel of it all.
Much like the original design, Carey styled her look with opera gloves.
Fred Leighton jewels completed her look.
