Angelina Jolie and her 15-year-old daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt are the uncontested winners of the award for coolest mother-daughter bonding activity. Last summer, Jolie revealed that she had hired Vivienne to be her assistant on her latest producing project, a musical adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s coming-of-age novel The Outsiders on Broadway.
Now, all their hard work has come to fruition: The Outsiders celebrated its opening night April 11 with a glitzy red carpet event, where both mom and daughter posed for photos.
Whereas Angelina opted for a bit of glamour in a gold silk dress and a rich camel-colored cape (perhaps an Atelier Jolie special?), Vivienne arrived dressed in a navy utilitarian jumpsuit—seemingly a nod to The Outsiders’ greaser protagonists—which matched that of composer and lyricist Justin Levine. She completed the look with a pair of well-worn Converse sneakers.
Previously, Jolie had praised Vivienne’s attentiveness, and claimed she was “working hard to best understand how to contribute.”
“Viv reminds me of my mother [actor and producer Marcheline Bertrand] in that she isn’t focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives,” she told Page Six. “[Vivienne is] very thoughtful and serious about theatre.”
