Fashion Trust US announced the winners of its second edition in a star-studded evening hosted by Zooey Deschanel.
The two-year-old organisation selected fashion designer Batsheva Hay of Batsheva for its sustainability work; Charles Harbison of Harbison Studio was awarded the ready-to-wear award and Ashley Harris of Don’t Let Disco won a prize for inclusivity. MoAnA Luu won the jewellery award for her brand ManLuu, while the accessories prize went to Esha Soni. Tamil Arable won the graduate award.
Winners received grants that totaled nearly $500,000 across the six awards, which were funded by Google in the Ready-to-Wear and Inclusivity categories.
Fashion Trust US is an offshoot of Fashion Trust Arabia, a six-year-old grant programme backed by Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the mother of the current Emir of Qatar.
The selection committee for finalists included founder Tania Fares, fashion editor Laura Brown, stylist Karla Welch, TV personality Tan France, talent agent Maha Dakhil, and fashion editor Anne Crawford. Presenters included French designer Isabel Marant and actresses Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Erivo.
