Marni’s Creative Director Francesco Risso was among the honourees of the 2024 GQ Global Creativity Awards held in New York City on Thursday.
Actress Hunter Schafer, singer-songwriter Erykah Badu and musician Asake all celebrated this honour by wearing Marni.
Hunter Schafer is no stranger to wearing Marni after wearing a Spring 2024 dress to ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes’ New York Screening.
What both looks have in common is the fact that they are both hand-painted.
This custom sculptural gown hand-painted by blending pale yellow, light blue, and charcoal tones was inspired by the Fall 2024 collection, and Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night painting it would seem.
We know Hunter for her avant-garde style, but I’m equally enjoying these more frequent high glamour moments too.
Considering the handcrafted approach and the construction of this one-of-a-kind dress, we should really be labelling this Haute Couture.

Erykah Badu, who presented Francesco Risso with the GQ Award, wore a custom Marni trench-coat boasting a bold hand-painted windowpane motif.
This would have been eye-catching on its own, but a signature Erykah Badu faux-fur hat completes the ensemble, dialing up the unpredictable mix of patterns with bold striping.
If you felt that Jeff Goldblum’s pattern play was over-the-top, this will push you over the edge.
This has to be one-of-a-kind, because no one but Erykah Badu would dare to wear this design.
It was specifically made with her persona in mind.
Nigerian musician Asake was relatively mute in comparison to the ladies above, dressed in all-black.
Since there is only one post on his Instagram for this 5 million followers to feast on, I would say he is a man who like to keep a bit of mystery.
