Let me posit that X (formerly and forever Twitter) is a hellscape. Also, that I still spend (too much) time there.

Like yesterday, when my explore page bubbled up a mini-controversy before the solar eclipse literally and figuratively blotted out everything else out. It bumped for me, and I’m curious if it resonates with you.

An X user — god that sounds stupid — posted about the Notion template he created to help he and his wife manage their home.

The reactions — over three thousand and counting so far — were mixed. Plenty of folks chimed in with “Wow, would love to see this!” and “My partner and I have a similar shared doc!”

While others were not sold, to say the least. What brought the conversation into my orbit was this one:

Then this one:

I don’t know. I’m torn. On the one hand, this man is attempting to — and by all accounts, succeeding at! — distributing the workload with his partner at home. Women are constantly begging their partners to put effort into proactively taking administrative tasks and emotional labor off their plates.

So that’s…good. But why does it come off…sort of obnoxious?

Maybe because it feels like such a man thing to do to announce to the world, “I did it! I ‘hacked’ marriage!”

I just sense a collective eye roll from women who have been white knuckling the juggling of work, kids, groceries, and more for literal generations, and then this guy comes along and sort of goes, Pshaw! All it takes is a few neatly organized cells of data, ladies! What’s all the fuss about?

Beyond that, I know marriage is work, but should you treat it like a project that needs to be managed? Are there KPI’s? Will they miss out on an annual raise if they miss their date night quota?

Or who knows, maybe I’m just jealous! I’m constantly having to reset our streaming passwords.

I want to know: What do you think?

Head to Twitter (sorry, I just can’t call it X one more time!!!) and share your take.
