Frilly boxer shorts and Mary Janes, gym shorts and Doc Martens, vintage football jerseys and dad caps wrapped in leopard-print headscarves. Hailey Bieber is one of the world’s most visible proponents of what I would describe as “lost-and-found box dressing.” That is, her outfits seem to have been assembled from a mish-mash of personal items left on the sidelines of a school sporting event, suggestive of a curated but lived-in chaos.
That extends to the models’s endless patronage of square-toed loafers—most often worn with white ankle-length socks, outsized leather jackets and jorts—which feel quite “I forgot my P.E. kit at home.” Even a cursory scroll through Google images will reveal at least 37 instances of Hailey Bieber wearing those specific, ruched-toe Jil Sander shoes since late 2022.
That number also includes the image above: wherein the model was photographed on a night out with husband Justin and Kendall Jenner carrying a customized Miu Miu bag and a transparent “bump-baring” top from Bite Studios with wide-legged “anti-maternity” jeans. To further telegraph the idle leisure of those beloved loafers, the Biebers were later captured leaving a Tokyo drugstore with at least six—soon-to-be released?—Rhode pimple patches decorating their faces. This from someone whose skin has never so much suffered a burst vein, is proof that even Hailey Bieber is graduating from “clean girl” culture.
