In terms of Old Hollywood glamour, nobody is doing it like Jennifer Lawrence right now. Specifically, Jennifer Lawrence giving pure, undiluted bombshell at the GLAAD Media Awards on May 11 in New York City. I mean, the side-part. The earrings. The leg. It’s giving elevated Jessica Rabbit. It’s giving modern Rita Hayworth.
While Lawrence typically wears Christian Dior for red carpet events, this time she mixed it up by wearing the black Alaïa Deesse gown, which features a plunging halter neck with an open back, a gathered drop-waist, and a thigh slit in the skirt.
The Oscar-winner styled the dress with open-toed black mules and chunky gold earrings, and carried the Dior CD signature bag in black. Her dramatic side-part and loose curls, along with a classic smokey eye, completed the vintage Hollywood vibe.
Like a true New York girlie, Jennifer Lawrence has seemingly made black her signature color lately. At least when it comes to her red carpet looks. To the 2024 Golden Globes, for instance, she wore a similarly minimalist black gown with a plunging neckline. She jazzed things up slightly at the 2024 Oscars, in a strapless black gown with a pattern of white polka dots. For the WWD honors in October 2023, she wore a simple black midi-dress.
You know what they say. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
