The sunny sweatshirt with the league’s white silhouette logo prominently displayed on the chest has a relatively recent origin story. While the WNBA is celebrating 25 seasons in 2024, the gender-inclusive hoodie was only released in 2019. WNBA head of content and influencer strategy Eb Jones wanted to make something everyone could wear to show their support for women and women’s basketball. It blew up when the late Kobe Bryant sported it courtside at a Lakers game that year. In March 2020, NBA players like Trae Young, Devin Booker, and Chris Paul wore the sweatshirt in the Bubble, drawing even more attention to the women’s league.
