Tyla made her Met Gala debut celebrating the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’ on Monday.
The singer wore a custom Balmain bustier gown featuring a sculptural bodice shaped by a plaster body mold and an organza train completely encased with three shades of sand mixed with micro crystal studs adding both depth and sparkle.
If you’re anything like me you mind went to ‘sands of time,’ ‘dune of the desert’ and wondered why this wasn’t an option for Zendaya’s ‘Dune: Part Two’ press tour.
But when you consider that Zendaya wore a stunning wet-look Balmain gown to the 2021 Venice Film Festival, perhaps this would have felt like too much of a repeat for Z.
On Tyla, it was an epic Met Gala debut that was on theme without being literal and intriguing in both the silhouette and craftsmanship.
A Balmain clutch made of glass, brass metal, and encased sand completed one of the best looks on the night.
