Ariana Grande made a guest appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where she performed her new song, ‘the boy is mine,’ a reimagined version of the iconic 1998 Brandy and Monica duet.
During her sit-down interview with the host, Ariana discussed keeping her ‘Wicked’ role a secret, the inspiration behind her album ‘Eternal Sunshine,’ and working with Penn Badgley on the music video for ‘the boy is mine.’
For the interview, Ariana wore a Balmain Spring 2024 jacket and skirt.
The outfit was a fresh update from the runway version, tailored for her TV interview while still retaining Ariana’s playful style.
Some might feel that the look was stripped of its original personality, but the style shift demonstrated Ariana’s versatility by making the look her own.
Interestingly, Jennifer Lopez had worn the runway version of this look for her Intimissimi ‘This Is Me … Now’ Collection launch party back in October, which might also a reason for the modifications.
Personally, I prefer Ariana’s version, and her styling which included Wolford tights and Jimmy Choo Ixia pumps.
For her performance, Ariana changed into a Mugler Fall 2024 asymmetric black dress featuring a cat mask.
The mask tied into the music video, which dropped today and paid homage to DC Comics femme fatale, Catwoman.
I love how this look highlighted Ariana’s flair for theatrical elements and her ability to merge music with visual storytelling seamlessly.
