Ayo Edebiri’s rapid ascent to fame now means that she is juggling two comically disparate press tours: the sequel to Inside Out and the third season of The Bear. (Such is the price of being likeable.) One of those demands her to entertain children and therefore dress in the precise hue of an animated Minion—consider the turquoise Bottega Veneta suit Edebiri wore earlier this month—while the other demands her to entertain adults who consider themselves connoisseurs of gritty television-making.

And so: the actor wore a padded duvet dress from Loewe’s autumn/winter 2024 collection— discerning and artful—at yesterday evening’s premiere of The Bear season 3 in Los Angeles. The hem was cut on the wonk and the fabric had been embroidered with glitch-effect florals. The petal stilettos and mini calfskin bucket bag were—in a stunning turn of events—also plucked from the Loewe showroom. This was doubtless the most successful look of Edebiri’s press tour(s) because it seems to capture the purest essence of who she is and what she is about: the funny girl with fashion capital. There have been some close contenders, of course—among them an architectural Marc Jacobs LBD; a tinsel-lined Dries Van Noten sweater vest; a contra-striped Marni gown; and a cartographic Bottega Veneta dress from Matthieu Blazy’s autumn/winter 2024 collection.
