Lupita Nyong’o graced the New York premiere of ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater on Wednesday, wearing a custom Prada sequin jumpsuit paired with a black satin mini skirt featuring a geometric train.
While undeniably eye-catching, I’m left deliberating over the overall effectiveness.
The off-the-shoulder sequin jumpsuit is undeniably stunning. It perfectly highlights Lupita’s elegance and flair for drama on the red carpet. However, I’m on the fence when it comes to the addition of the black satin miniskirt and geometric train.
Prada’s signature geometric train was a familiar sight during awards season. In this case, I think I would have been sold on the train if it cascaded from the back, and there wasn’t a skirt disrupting the fluidity.
The current configuration feels somewhat disjointed, as if two different design concepts were merged without fully integrating them.
Despite my misgivings on the skirt, Lupita’s presence and poise bring an undeniable charm to the outfit.
De Beers jewels amped the glamour, with Prada patent leather pumps completing the look.
