Miley Cyrus’s new hair is fully Hannah Montana-coded, and the millennial in me is screaming.
For the past several months, the singer’s retro, high-volume blowout has signaled a return to her country music roots. Now, she appears to be returning to her personal Disney Channel roots with a long, curly hairstyle framed by curtain bangs that scream, “She’s just being Miley.” Pop Base tweeted photos of Cyrus in Los Angeles on June 25, showing the singer in dark sunglasses and a vintage red tee, carrying what appears to be a black Bottega Veneta bag. (See the photos here.)
According to the Daily Mail, Miley Cyrus was spotted alongside her boyfriend Maxx Morando, whom she was last seen getting cozy with at the 2024 Grammys. The couple shared a rare public smooch at the table, but they have been dating since 2021.
Cyrus’s new hair, with a natural brown color, loose curl, and eyebrow-skimming fringe, isn’t exactly the same as from her Hannah Montana days. The bangs are not side-swept, for instance, and the curls are far less large and defined than those of the 2009-era, but the vision is still clearly there. To me, personally, it is even more reminiscent of Miley Stewart than the straightened version she debuted a few months prior.
In fact the most note-worthy thing about this throwback era ‘do is how relatively tame it is in comparison with some other highlights from Miley Cyrus’s hair journey. Over the years, Cyrus has always been at the forefront of the edgiest hair trends, from her bleach blonde undercut to her Joan Jett-inspired mullet to the aforementioned sky-high bouffant. But this isn’t a look we’ve seen from her since her “Party In the U.S.A.” days.
