Ren Clean Skincare’s chief executive officer, Michelle Brett, will be stepping down from her post on July 1, The Business of Beauty has learned. A successor has yet to be named.
Brett will assume a new role within Unilever Prestige, which has owned Ren Clean Skincare since 2015. Brett previously joined Ren Clean Skincare from the hair care brand Living Proof, another Unilever Prestige-owned line. Unilever Prestige did not respond to a request for comment.
Under Brett’s leadership, the brand has refined its marketing and product assortment to focus more heavily on sensitive skin. Brett oversaw the discontinuation of more than a third of the brand’s SKUs in 2023 to help realise that goal.
Another goal was to grow its US presence. The brand was originally founded in the UK in 2000, and that remains its primary market. It’s carried in just 34 branches of Sephora’s overall network of more than 500 stores in North America.
According to a source close to the business, sales were around $30 million in 2023.
