It’s an Eras Tour summer! Miss Taylor Swift is officially touching down in the UK for the next chapter of the Eras Tour European leg — and whether you’re seeing her in Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff, London, or abroad, we have you covered. It’s no secret that the most difficult part of the process of preparing for the concert is scoring tickets, but the second, undoubtably, is deciding what to wear. Part theatrical show and part ComicCon-esque event, a night at the Eras Tour has become just as synonymous with friendship bracelets, fan meet-ups, and elaborate costumes as it has with Swift’s three-hour-long performance. So how do you stand out? You could display your sewing chops by recreating one of her signature tour looks or music video personas. Or you could show you’re an OG with an old concert tee from Fearless or Speak Now. You might even want to dip into the pool of Swiftie inside jokes from the past decade and find yourself a “no its becky” t-shirt. But if you’re looking to portray an era with what you already have in your closet, we’ve broken down what you’ll need. And don’t fear, we have suggestions if you’re missing a key piece.

Whether you’re looking for some sparkly cowboy boots to embrace your inner Fearless country star or searching for snakeskin embellishments worthy of reputation, we have you covered. Keep scrolling for our Eras Tour Style Guide, where we go era by era.

Let’s take things back to the beginning with Swift’s debut, self-titled album. The year is 2006 and you hear “Tim McGraw” on the radio for the first time, and suddenly, you’re hooked on country music? For this era, throw on a teal sundress or faded blue jeans and some colourful cowboy boots and you’re good to go. Bonus points for a cowboy hat and wild curls.

Fearless

Black Dress ROTATE BIRGER CHRISTENSEN; Silver Dress JAVIER OSORIO; Black Boots GANNI; Silver Boots ANNIE’S IBIZA X TERRY DE HAVILLAND

The sparklier the better! The Fearless album saw Swift’s first headlining tour — and with that came all the sparkly dresses we’ve come to know the artist for. Hand hearts, glittery guitars, and 13s everywhere, this era is for the modern princess. All you need is — you guessed it — a sparkly dress (gold, silver, or black) and cowboy boots to match.

Speak Now

Purple, purple, purple. That’s what the Speak Now album has become known for. Well, that, and the fact that Swift wrote it entirely on her own. Stylistically, she went full force into the whimsical world of vintage-inspired dresses and Oxford shoes. For this era, put on your favourite purple dress and accessorise with a flower headband and kitten heels or flats, and belt your heart out.

Red

Top PRADA; Blouse TORY BURCH; Shorts ALAIA; Shoes KEDS; Hat LACK OF COLOR

Pass the hair straightener, we’re entering the 2012 era of Red. As Taylor moved boldly into country-leaning-pop from pop-leaning-country, she marked the change of sound with a change in style. Redefining the high-waisted short and red lip, she blended silhouettes from the 1950s and 60s with classic 2010s “hipster” trends to develop a unique, undeniably Swift, uniform. To dress the part, make sure you have your red or black high waisted mini shorts, and pair them with a stripped tee or pussy-bow blouse. Keds sneakers, pearls, and sunglasses are a must. If you really want to go all out? Cut some bangs.

Welcome to New York! In 2014, Swift packed her bags and cut her hair and took the world by storm. Known for her mix of high and low fashion pieces, she was often photographed (by paparazzi outside her apartment, the downside from moving from Nashville to New York) pairing a Brandy Melville top or Aqua set with Louboutins or a Prada bag. This era also saw the 1989 World Tour, a spectacle that marked Swift’s ascension into pop stardom. Whether you’re looking for something more sparkly or subtle, you’ll need a matching co-ord set — a crop top and high waisted skirt. Little heeled booties or stilettos both work, and make sure there’s tons of bold colours to stand out.

reputation

Tights DION LEE; Shorts RETROFETE; Dress DION LEE; Top ROBERTO CAVALLI; Shoes ACNE STUDIOS; Earrings GOOSSENS; Ring GOOSSENS

The reputation album came after Taylor faced the worst and most violating media hate that she — or frankly, anyone — had had to deal with previously. She disappeared for a year, wiping her Instagram and breaking her cycle of dropping an album every two years. And when she came back, she truly felt like a phoenix rising from the ashes. To look the part, she moved her style into darker tones — with snake motifs and animal prints. This is one of the most fun eras to recreate, and not too difficult either — though if you’re naturally drawn to pastels or bright colours, you may need to get your wallet out. If you have anything snakeskin, start there, and make sure you’re in something that feels powerful to dance in. We recommend a snakeskin bodysuit or oversized, hooded shirt dress, maroon lips, dark eyes, and thigh high black boots.

Lover

Jeans Y-PROJECT; Top AREA; Dress RODARTE; Jacket ALICE + OLIVIA

From reputation‘s themes of finding love in a time of darkness, Swift reaches the light at the end of the tunnel with Lover. To match, she goes full force pastel hues, kitschy accessories, and some monochrome pant suits. For your own look, focus on purples, pinks, and blues (and maybe consider dip-dyeing your hair one of those shades). Floral patterns and heart cut outs are key. So grab a sparkly heart-shaped top or baby pink dress and feel the love. You can also pair this with a pink fur coat if it’s not too hot, or a denim jacket with heart cutouts, like above.

folklore

White Dress ALL SAINTS; Sage Dress OMNES; Green Cardigan ZADIG&VOLTAIRE; White Cardigan LOEWE; Green Ballet Flats REFORMATION; Pink Ballet Flats REFORMATION

Taylor’s first pandemic album, folklore, is a whimsical, natural, earth tone Swiftie’s dream. Embrace your inner woodland fairy and find a vintage nightgown or grassy green dress and some barely-there shoes (we’d say go barefoot, but that’s dangerous in a stadium). The most important piece? A cardigan, of course.

evermore

Dress REFORMATION; Orange Top MIISTA; Cardigan GUEST IN RESIDENCE; Beige Check Mini Skirt BURBERRY; Red/Brown Check Skirt VIVIENNE WESTWOOD

The second pandemic offering and a winter sister album to folklore, evermore’s visual identity is pretty similar in its cottagecore aesthetics. But this era is all in the autumnal plaids. So put your hair in braids, dig out your favourite flannel, and put on a flowy golden brown dress.

Midnights

Sequin Dress PATBO; Velvet Dress GALVAN; Fur Coat STAND STUDIO; Sparkly Cardigan SELF PORTRAIT

It’s time to Bejeweled! Midnights has some of the most fun style elements — from crystal embellishments and sparkly garters to lavender fur jackets and beyond. To embrace this era, go for midnight blues and lavender tones, keeping the mystery of the night alive. We recommend a deep blue bodysuit or sparkly lavender t-shirt dress, and all the bedazzled accessories you can find. Stars, moons, all things night sky.

The Tortured Poets Department

Ivory Dress DE LA VALI; Black Dress VIVIENNE WESTWOOD; White Gloves CLIO PEPPIATT; Black Gloves JENNIFER BEHR; Shoes THE ATTICO

The most recent era to make its way into the Swiftiverse, The Tortured Poets Department has a visual identity all its own. Stepping into a dark academia world, the album dons gothic black and whites, vintage corsetry and opera gloves, and poetically sculptured silhouettes. To dress like the tortured poet within you, go for a black or white corseted dress, matching gloves, and dark makeup. Or, of course, you could get some Post Malone tattoos.
