Adele has always been a powerhouse on stage, captivating audiences not just with her soul-stirring voice but also with her distinctive, elegant style. Currently in Munich for her second concert residency, held at the 80,000-seat outdoor arena Messe München, Adele continues to deliver not only musically but sartorially. The residency, which kicked off on August 2nd and runs through August 31st, has already provided some unforgettable fashion moments.
Last week, Adele performed under the lights—and the rain—donning a custom Armani Privé gown that instantly evoked a sense of déjà vu. The dress, inspired by the Armani Privé Spring 2023 collection, featured black sequins, a structured bustier, and a vibrant colour harlequin motif accenting the yoke. If this sounds familiar, it’s because Cate Blanchett wore the runway version to the 2023 Fragrance Foundation Awards.
However, Adele’s version added both sleeves and a dramatic train, giving the gown a unique twist that felt perfectly in sync with her signature on-stage style.
Adele’s take on the gown was nothing short of a fashion triumph. The added sleeves and train not only differentiated her look from Cate’s but also enhanced the drama, making it a quintessential Adele moment—sophisticated, glamorous, and slightly theatrical. It’s a testament to her ability to take a piece that could easily be overshadowed by its previous wearer and make it entirely her own.
For the opening night of the residency, Adele opted for a Dior Haute Couture black moiré gown, cinched at the waist with a matching belt. Given Adele’s long-standing love affair with black gowns, this choice came as no surprise. In fact, at this rate, she might as well be added to the Guinness Book of Records for her devotion to the colour. Yet, what made this particular gown stand out was the stunning moiré fabric and the long skirt overlay lined in light pink moiré—a subtle but striking detail that added depth and dimension to the otherwise classic black ensemble.
Adele’s fashion choices during this Munich residency have been nothing short of impeccable, blending her signature style with fresh elements that keep her looks both timeless and contemporary. The custom Armani Privé gown with its playful yet elegant design and the Dior Haute Couture gown with its refined simplicity both underscore Adele as the queen of on-stage elegance.
