As the tide of brat summer recedes, internet discourse will inevitably wash up a new trend, perhaps that of the demure woman, or as Celine creative director Hedi Slimane believes, the timeless beauty of feminine ritual. With the forthcoming launch of Celine Beauté, the first cosmetics line in the house’s history, Slimane is celebrating the triomphe of femininity. This autumn, the Maison will expand Celine’s 2019 haute parfumerie collection and introduce “Rouge Triomphe,” a classic red lip, and a set of luxury objects, including bottles, pencils, and cases, in service of all beauty rituals. To mark the occasion, we tapped Celine muse and American actress Ever Anderson to ask her about what makes her feel beautiful, the last person she blocked, and how a girl really can do it all. To which she responded, “Never let them see you sweat.”

Where are you?

I’m just back in Malibu from the best early summer holiday in London.

How would you describe your social life?

I have a few close friends who I hang out with a lot.

What’s your beauty ritual?

I’m a big skincare girlie, I love Korean skincare, but when it comes to makeup I keep it pretty simple. I love using Celine’s rouge 01 lipstick on my lips and a little on my cheeks!

What do you think about when you’re alone?

I love reading. You’ll always find me with a book in hand. I also love to write, watch films and daydream.

Who are your enemies?

I’d have to say mosquitoes!

What’s your step count?

Thirty thousand a day when I’m in Europe but only five or six thousand daily when I’m in LA which is embarrassing.

What’s your diet?

I try to eat whole foods and drink lots of water but I always have a sweet treat after dinner. Sometimes I like to make my treats healthier by adding collagen to them. It honestly doesn’t do much but makes me feel better about myself.

What are you invested in?

Filmmaking, to be honest. I have just completed writing my first screenplay for a short film that I plan to produce, direct and act in later in the Fall of this year with the help of some other young filmmakers. I’m very excited about it. I’m also devoted to my family. We are all very close and I love being a big sister.

What advice do you have?

Don’t cut bangs when you’re sad. You’ll always regret it!

What’s your favorite smell?

I love vanilla. It’s my favorite smell. Sometimes I even dab a little vanilla extract in my hair.

What makes you feel beautiful?

Honestly, making good choices. Educating myself. Helping out with my little sisters. Choosing to be kind makes me feel beautiful. No one ever feels beautiful when they snap or when they’re behaving rudely.

What’s your favorite airport?

Charles de Gaulle. It’s so pretty to look at and when I land there it means I’m in Paris!

Do you save money?

I still live with my parents so yeah, I’m saving up! I look forward to living in Paris or London one day in the not too distant future.

What’s your most controversial opinion?

Probably that I put cream before the jam on my scones. It’s the right way to do it. I won’t hear anything else on that.

What more do you need?

Maybe Birkenstock heels. Haha. I also need Bon Iver to drop another album.

What’s in your fridge?

Avocados and strawberry milk. I eat them separately of course. Also a lot of pickled asparagus.

Where do you shop?

I shop at vintage stores most of the time. I’m avoiding online fast fashion purchases these days. Finding that perfect vintage piece that fits and feels unique brings a different kind of joy to my life.

What do you buy?

I buy a lot of Matcha.

How long do you spend in the mirror?

I don’t think I spend a lot of time in the mirror, but sometimes I listen to TikTok audios and pretend I’m in an edit. Don’t judge.

Who’s the last person you blocked?

Gross random guys on instagram. I think all girls can relate to that type of ick.

What’s your last Google search?

How to make the gooiest slime with no glue activator for my little sisters! We love making all types of things together, but slime is their favorite. Thanks Google.

What’s your survival tactic?

Never eat random berries or mushrooms in the wild. Also, never let them see you sweat.

Where are we headed?

To the moon.

What do you really want?

Young Damon Alburn from Blur to be King of the world.
