On Monday, 2nd December, designers, models, and further industry leaders will make their way to London’s Royal Albert Hall for an evening of celebration. Ripe with reunions that typically only occur during major fashion weeks, stories from the year, and perhaps the best dressed red carpet out there, the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Awards looks to the prior twelve months of creativity, innovation, and purpose-led design work — and honours those who have contributed significantly to the British fashion landscape and the broader, international industry as a whole. The primary fundraiser for the the BFC Foundation, the event has previously honoured the likes of Paloma Elsesser, Edward Enninful, and Bianca Saunders. Now, we officially know who is shortlisted for this year’s edition!

The most prestigious accolade, Designer of the Year, will be awarded to one of the following designers whose collections have made a global impact: Chemena Kamali for Chloé, John Galliano for Maison Margiela, Jonathan Anderson for JW Anderson & LOEWE, Miuccia Prada for Miu Miu, Pieter Mulier for Alaïa, and Rick Owens for Rick Owens.

Elsewhere, the New Establishment categories will honour designers whose work have created a new movement in British fashion — critiqued through their collections, business growth, and international headlines. Nominees include Dilara Fındıkoğlu and Emma Chopova/Laura Lowena for womenswear, and Priya Ahluwalia and Aaron Esh for menswear.

The nominees have been selected by BFC’s selected jury of press and buyers with intensive expertise, and will be presented to a voting committee of 1,000 professionals in the industry. In addition to the main categories, the 2024 awards will also include Special Recognition Awards, the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, Outstanding Achievement Award, Fashion Icon, and NEW WAVE: Creatives — a recognition of 50 young global talents.

All winners will be announced at the award ceremony, which is presented by Pandora alongside the Peninsula London. Find more information on tickets here.
