We know that Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck officially, but what we don’t know for sure is what happened. Not that there haven’t been plenty of guesses and rumors floating around. All we have so far is the word of an anonymous source speaking to People.
“[Lopez is] very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage,” the source told the outlet. “He hasn’t shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work. It’s gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself.” According to the source, Lopez simply decided it was time to move on.

After the divorce filings became public on August 20, Page Six reported that the couple did not sign a prenup before they tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2022. But I wouldn’t worry that either of them is going to be left destitute.
Since rekindling their relationship in 2020, the public became used to seeing near constant photos of Bennifer 2.0 kissing, holding hands, and otherwise PDAing all over the place. So when they suddenly stopped appearing together on red carpets in spring of 2024, stories that there was trouble in paradise began circulating almost immediately. Soon, it was reported that Affleck had moved out of their shared home, while inside sources claimed that the trouble stemmed from their different approaches to fame and to Lopez’s hectic work schedule, among other issues.
But who knows? Maybe 20 or so years from now we’ll see Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck give it another go a for a third time.
