The 2024 Emmy Awards were a showcase of sartorial excellence, with Giorgio Armani dressing a number of nominees in looks that exemplified classic elegance and contemporary flair. From sleek tuxedos to embellished gowns, Armani’s designs once again proved why the brand is synonymous with red-carpet sophistication.
A Peak Lapel Masterclass
Jonathan Bailey, nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category for ‘Fellow Travelers’, joined his co-star Matt Bomer in delivering a polished, refined look that was pure Armani. Jonathan’s Made to Measure black double-breasted peak lapel tuxedo was styled with a beige silk shirt, which made me swoon, and a satin cummerbund, an accessory we don’t see enough of on red carpets. It added a touch of classic elegance to the ensemble.
The look was elevated further with the ‘Spring’ brooch from the Metamorphosis by De Beers high jewelry collection, an OMEGA De Ville Prestige timepiece, and Santoni shoes. This look made Jonathan a strong contender for one of the best-dressed men of the night.
Ethereal in Armani Privé
Dakota Fanning, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for ‘Ripley’, was the epitome of elegance in a gold silk satin Armani Privé strapless bustier gown. The gown’s tulle overlay, embroidered with pearls and crystals, brought an ethereal quality to the ensemble, making Dakota look absolutely radiant.
While the hue is very much in line with the Fanning sisters’ go-to colour palette, this is a case of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” The combination of silk satin and intricate embellishments made this one of the most memorable looks of the evening.

Subtle Flair with Swarovski Crystals
Ramy Youssef, nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for ‘Honeydew’, is known for bringing a touch of flair to his red-carpet looks. His Giorgio Armani black notch lapel tuxedo, trimmed with Swarovski crystals, was no exception. The addition of the crystal detailing elevated what could have been a simple tuxedo, allowing Ramy to stand out in a sea of classic black suits while still maintaining a refined look.
Modern and Tieless
Paul W. Downs, who took home multiple awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series for his work on ‘Hacks’, brought a modern twist to the classic tuxedo in his Emporio Armani black peak lapel asymmetrical tuxedo. While I used to be a stickler for a tie at formal events, Paul’s tieless moment felt fresh and contemporary.
Making a Powerful Statement
‘Reservation Dogs’ nominee D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai opted for an Emporio Armani black shawl collar tuxedo, but his look was about much more than just fashion. D’Pharaoh used the occasion to bring awareness to the missing Indigenous women movement, with a red handprint—a powerful symbol for the MMIW (Missing and M*rdered Indigenous Women) movement—painted across his face. According to Native Hope, the red hand represents the many Indigenous women whose voices have been silenced. His look was both elegant and impactful, blending fashion with activism.
