Nicolas Ghesquière made his mark on the 2024 Emmy Awards red carpet, dressing seven celebrities in custom Louis Vuitton designs. Each look had its own unique story, from ethereal Grecian goddess vibes to sleek and modern tailoring. Here’s a rundown of the each look.
A Modern Goddess
Hannah Einbinder, nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for ‘Hacks’, has a well-documented love for tailored suits, but she switched things up by channelling her inner Grecian goddess in a custom Louis Vuitton gown. The dusty pink crepe jersey and tulle dress, featuring an asymmetrical draped top, brought a directional edge to an otherwise classic, feminine silhouette.
The draped top adds a structured, modern twist, keeping her aesthetic fresh while embracing a softer, more romantic side. It’s a well-balanced departure from her usual sharp tailoring, and it worked beautifully on the red carpet.
David Yurman High Jewelry Liberty drop earrings and High Jewelry Floating diamonds ring completed her look.
Serene Elegance in Midnight Blue
Saoirse Ronan delivered one of the most serene and refined looks of the night in a custom Louis Vuitton midnight blue silk ensemble. The draped top and double silk skirt followed a similar Grecian-inspired theme as Hannah’s, but Saoirse’s mood was more understated, channelling a tranquil elegance that was simply captivating.
The Bulgari High Jewelry Serpenti necklace with two pear-shaped emeralds and a Serpenti ring added just the right amount of glamour, elevating the look without overwhelming its simplicity. Saoirse’s look was a lesson in how minimalism can make a powerful statement.
Timeless Navy with a Contemporary Twist
Jodie Foster’s ongoing love affair with navy continued at the Emmys, where she accepted the award for Best Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for ‘True Detective: Night Country’ in a striking Louis Vuitton crepe gown. The dramatic draped top added a sense of grandeur, while the gold belt introduced a contemporary touch that took the look to another level.
Jodie’s style is always clean, elegant, and fuss-free, and this gown epitomized that ethos while still feeling modern. The balance between classic and contemporary elements were flawlessly executed.
Vintage Flair with a Touch of Whimsy
Robert Downey Jr. never shies away from making a sartorial statement, and his custom Louis Vuitton blue double-breasted flared suit at the Emmys was no exception. The suit, accented with a pearl button, exuded a mix of vintage charm and modern sophistication.
What stole the show for me, though, were the blue silk shirt and tie combo and the Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Bird on a Rock brooch in platinum and 18k yellow gold with a pink tourmaline. This playful, whimsical accessory gave the look an added layer of personality, while matching this wife, Susan Downey’s, pink embellished gown.
This was everything you’d expect from the actor—effortless, stylish, and a little unconventional in the best way.
Classic Louis Vuitton with Sharp Tailoring
Jack Lowden, nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for ‘Slow Horses’, kept things classic in a Louis Vuitton navy double-breasted tuxedo with a contrasting black lapel. While the look wasn’t groundbreaking, it was a masterclass in timeless menswear. The sharp tailoring and elegant simplicity were so that he didn’t need any bold accessories or flashy embellishments—his understated approach to the red carpet was effortlessly sophisticated.
Matchy Sophistication
Holland Taylor was the epitome of elegance in her Louis Vuitton cream wool double-breasted tuxedo. Nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for ‘The Morning Show’, Holland’s look stood out for its tailoring and monochromatic palette. The matching Louis Vuitton Petite Malle and LV satin pumps tied the ensemble together seamlessly, creating a polished, cohesive look.
On-trend in Brown
While Steven Yeun wasn’t up for any awards this time, he still made an impression as a guest presenter. Steven opted for a Louis Vuitton dark brown single-breasted Damier suit, which appeared to read as blue in certain photos.
