Emma Laird made a stylish return to the red carpet for ‘The Brutalist’ premiere during the 2024 New York Film Festival on Saturday, following her appearance at the film’s debut at the Venice Film Festival last month.
While her style has taken a distinct turn, her allegiance to Louis Vuitton remains steadfast.
For this event, Emma opted for a Louis Vuitton Resort 2025 butterfly sleeved beaded dress. There’s a distinct retro vibe here, with the look evoking a blend of disco glamour and boho chic, an homage to the 1970s. The styling was amplified by Louis Vuitton black leather knee-high boots, which contributed to the era-inspired mood.
The dress might look familiar—it’s the same style Noémie Merlant wore in black to the ‘Lee’ London premiere earlier this month. And, as we’ve seen from Emma’s bold photocall choice in Venice, she isn’t one to shy away from wearing pieces off the runway. Emma’s version of the dress suits her style personality, as did Noémie’s version.
I’ll admit, the boots would not have been my first choice; a sleek heel might have added more elegance. Yet there’s something about the way Emma carried this ensemble that made it work—she’s selling the whole ‘70s revival with undeniable confidence. Whether it’s her effortless aura, her hair styled to match the vibe, or simply her ability to commit to the vision.
