Grace VanderWaal has quickly made a name for herself not just as a talented actress and singer but also as a fearless fashion risk-taker. Known for championing vintage aesthetics and underground designers, she rarely follows the traditional red carpet playbook—and it’s exactly that unpredictability that makes her such a fashion favourite.
At the ‘Megalopolis’ premiere in New York City, where she joined co-stars Aubrey Plaza and Nathalie Emmanuel, Grace once again proved why she’s one to watch.
This time, Grace opted for a striking look by Claire Sullivan, a designer who’s been gaining traction ever since Addison Rae’s VMA ensemble. On Grace, Sullivan’s black satin draped corset paired with an asymmetrical feathered skirt hit all the right notes. It was attention-grabbing, edgy, and elegant all at once—exactly what we’ve come to expect from her red carpet appearances.
While we’ve seen a variety of bold looks from Grace during this press tour, her Cinema by Panos Zinas look from Cannes Film Festival still ranks as my personal favourite. However, this Claire Sullivan creation is a close contender. The combination of the structured corset and the playful yet dramatic feathers created a unique silhouette that managed to feel both vintage-inspired and thoroughly modern. It’s a tricky balance to strike, but Grace nailed it.
What makes Grace’s style so compelling is her ability to make daring choices that feel authentically her. She never looks like she’s playing dress-up—each outfit feels like a reflection of her personality, whether it’s whimsical, moody, or avant-garde. And while this ensemble may not be as flashy as some of her previous looks, it stands out for its understated drama and impeccable craftsmanship.
