Lily Gladstone in Rodarte at the 2024 Emmy Awards

The duo behind Rodarte, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, are no strangers to crafting memorable red carpet moments. At the 2024 Emmy Awards, they dressed three celebrities, each in a look that exuded the signature Rodarte creativity, while bringing in personal and artistic touches. From Indigenous artistry to dreamy florals, these gowns showcased the Mulleavy sisters’ mastery in fusing unique craftsmanship with elegance.

A Collaboration with Heritage

Having worked with Kate and Laura Mulleavy before for Lily Gladstone’s standout look at the 2024 Palm Springs International Film Festival, this was their most personal partnership yet.

Rodarte designed the elegant black dress, while the copper plate detailing—coordinated with matching rings and a cuff—was crafted by Indigenous artist Agnes Seaweed Wisden.

The copper elements were more than just accessories; they were a stunning nod to Lily’s heritage, adding a deeply meaningful layer to her look. This was a powerful blend of Rodarte’s modern elegance and cultural pride, proving once again that fashion can be both art and storytelling.

Velvet Dreams and Floral Fantasies

Jessica Gunning, who took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for ‘Baby Reindeer’, was a vision in black velvet. Her Rodarte gown featured a sleek, draped column silhouette that oozes old Hollywood glamour. I love how the blue silk flowers adorning the gown added a fresh, whimsical twist—although, if you’re like me, you may have initially mistaken them for birds at first glance.

Lark & Berry bracelet and ring, along with CZ costume earrings by Anayah Jewellery completed her look.

A Floral Fantasy in Peach

Maya Erskine, nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’, embraced a more romantic aesthetic in her Rodarte gown. The peach beaded Chantilly lace creation, adorned with delicate flower details, was a soft and ethereal choice for the night. Rodarte’s use of intricate lace and floral motifs brought a dreamlike quality to the gown, which stood out in a sea of darker hues.
