Charlize Theron attended the special screening of Netflix’s ‘Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter’ at Netflix’s Home Theater in Los Angeles on Monday.
I have to say, I love the laid back nature of Charlize’s double denim look from McQueen. Considering the setting—more intimate than a full-blown red-carpet premiere—this outfit felt relaxed yet stylishly intentional.
Double denim is always a tricky fashion choice. Should you match the shades for a monochromatic look, or opt for different tones for added texture and contrast? In this case, Charlize nailed it with her McQueen asymmetric denim shirt and printed high-rise straight-leg jeans.
Going for two tones worked in her favour, amplifying the print and allowing each piece to stand out. Had she gone with a single shade for both top and bottom, the look might have felt flat, lacking the layered depth that makes this outfit so striking.
What also elevated this look was her choice of footwear. You can always count on Charlize to add a touch of intrigue, and her white Alaïa Spike leather mules did just that. They injected just the right amount of modern edge, while her subtle jewelry and bold red lip pulled the entire ensemble together with a perfect pop of colour.
Honestly, this might be one of my favourite looks of the week, and it’s ironic considering this was just a screening, not a major red-carpet event. In fact, I’d argue that it’s better than most of what we saw on the VMAs red carpet.
