After dazzling at Venice and London, Lady Gaga took to the red carpet in Los Angeles for the third premiere of her new film, ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’, held at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Monday, where the actress-singer chose another custom look by Celine, crafted by Hedi Slimane.
While her previous Celine ensemble at the London premiere drew mixed reactions, I have a feeling this cape-shouldered flounce dress might be more universally embraced.
The look feels more modern and carries an extra dose of drama and glamour thanks to the elegant cape and the Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Vigne necklace. Adding an extra layer of opulence were her Tiffany & Co. black enamel bracelet, and distinctive banana dot ear clips.
Personally, I love both of Gaga’s recent Celine looks equally, as they offer something uniquely different. But it’s easy to see why this latest ensemble may stand out for some. The simplicity and clean lines of the design, the elegance of the cape, and Gaga’s softer makeup create a sophisticated, modern aesthetic. The addition of the stunning Tiffany necklace ties it all together.
If there’s one detail I’d critique, it’s her seemingly missing eyebrows as she opted for the fake, futuristic no eyebrow look.
Gaga’s penchant for experimenting with her beauty look is part of her signature, but here, I’m not sure if this was the right look to present this. However, it’s a minor point in what is otherwise a standout red carpet moment. With Hedi Slimane’s chic tailoring and Tiffany’s opulent jewels, Lady Gaga once again proves she can seamlessly blend modernity with old-school Hollywood glamour.
