Menswear Midweek Red Carpet Roundup

It’s been a busy week for menswear on the red carpet, with some stellar outfits gracing a variety of events worldwide. From high-fashion jewelry shows to glamorous premieres and even a Broadway debut, male celebrities showcased everything from classic suiting to daring designs. Here’s a roundup of the standout looks so far.

Messika 2024 High Jewellery Fashion Show

Chinese actor Gong Jun attended the Messika 2024 High Jewellery Fashion Show as the APAC ambassador for the jewelry label. While his silver Messika necklace should have been the highlight—especially given his shirtless approach to the look—I found myself distracted by the dramatic drapery of his Y/Project Fall 2024 blazer. The blazer’s loose fit and hood brought a sense of uniqueness, even if Gong Jun chose not to wear the hood up.

It’s a daring and unexpected combination, making his look one of the more intriguing takes on high fashion for men this week.

The Franchise LA Premiere

Himesh Patel’s AMIRI Fall 2024 look featured a champagne satin blazer adorned with an array of brooches along the shawl lapels—already a standout piece. However, Himesh took it a step further with a tonal satin shirt and the patterned trousers from the runway, making the ensemble his own by adding a white open-knit vest. The complex layering was well-executed, adding a modern twist to the typically understated red carpet menswear.

Isaac Powell kept the mood light and fresh, wearing a Givenchy Fall 2024 double-breasted suit in a lovely grey-blue hue. A lighter coloured vest would have been expected here, but navy eased in his choice of black leather Mr G loafers. It was an elegant outfit, demonstrating how small styling decisions can elevate a look beyond the expected.

McNeal Broadway Opening Night

Celebrating the opening night of ‘McNeal’, his Broadway debut, Robert Downey Jr. defied expectations by going all out with his attire. Instead of the typical relaxed after-bow look, Robert stepped out in a sharp suit, accessorized with an Elsa Peretti® pine needle brooch and a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch. It’s a testament to Robert’s ongoing evolution in menswear—always elegant yet with a hint of unexpected flair. Susan Downey also shined alongside him in a Johanna Ortiz Seduccion Lunar cropped guipure lace-trimmed embroidered faux leather top and Mesopotamia skirt from the designers Fall 2024 collection, adding extra glamour to the night.

28a Gala Dos Globos De Ouro

The ‘Globos de Ouro’ is Portugal’s biggest artistic event, and José Condessa made sure he looked the part. Wearing a Saint Laurent black-on-black tuxedo, he paired it with a beautifully draped silk satin top that added a smooth touch to the classic silhouette. Styled with Saint Laurent Vassili boots, his look was romantic and dashing. I couldn’t help but swoon—not just once, but twice, because I want that top for myself. It’s these kinds of small statements that make an outfit memorable.

Gavin Leatherwood proved that understated elegance can still make a powerful statement, as he wore a Dolce & Gabbana midnight blue three-piece suit that was perfectly tailored and refined. Despite the dark backdrop, the rich blue of the suit shone through, offering a masterclass in sophisticated simplicity.
