Ariana Grande joined her ’Wicked’ co-star Cynthia Erivo at the New York premiere, held at the Museum of Modern Art and hosted by Anna Wintour. Stepping onto the red carpet in a custom Louis Vuitton pink silk satin bustier gown, Ariana made a graceful entrance. At first glance, her gown called to mind Cynthia Erivo’s look from the Sydney premiere, particularly in how the skirt appeared below the peplum detail.
Initially, I assumed the length of the skirt was the issue, but after watching videos online, it seems the fabric itself is the main culprit here. The satin material showed a bit of cling in certain areas, likely due to static, creating an effect that’s less about the length and more about the challenges of the fabric.
On the plus side, we’re treated to a fresh silhouette and a richer shade of pink that beautifully complements Ariana’s complexion. I know her recent lighter pinks have been divisive—many felt they washed her out—but this deeper hue adds a subtle warmth.
With coordinating Louis Vuitton pink satin pumps, sparkling diamond jewels, and an elegant bun, Ariana presented a more mature, refined presence.
Is it a groundbreaking look? Maybe not. But there’s an understated charm in how she balances simplicity with elegance here, making for a quietly captivating moment on the red carpet.
