This year’s LACMA Art+Film Gala brought together celebrities embracing both vintage treasures and modern designs, delivering a spectrum of looks that played with colour and texture. Here’s a look at the rest of the look from the red carpet.
Seductive Back Appeal
Emily Ratajkowski’s archive Donna Karan Fall 1996 gown in chocolate brown satin and velvet stays true to her signature style. With a deep open back, this piece captures Donna Karan’s elegance with a sensual twist. The contrast of satin and velvet textures adds interest, though a unified texture might have elevated the look further.
Unexpected Harmony
The ‘Woman of the Hour’ actress Anna Kendrick surprised with a bold chartreuse and copper colour combination that, while risky, worked beautifully
Overcomplicating Simplicity
Dressed in a black draped satin dress with contrasting twisted straps from Bottega Veneta Resort 2024, Ellie Goulding’s dress had all the makings of minimal chic. However, the presentation was surprisingly complicated and unappealing.
Minimalist Marvel
Greta Lee wore an off-the-shoulder black dress from The Row’s Resort 2025 collection. Its clean lines and architectural silhouette made a sophisticated statement, underscoring her refined, minimalist aesthetic. What’s most interesting about this look is that Solange Knowles back in July, and they share the same stylist.
A Big No
Michelle Rodriguez’s Gaurav Gupta Spring 2024 Couture look deserved an elevated styling approach. The intricate design lost some of its impact, with a lack of complementary details to truly highlight its artistry.
Sparkling A Balance
For me, Monica Barbaro’s minimalist Celine gown didn’t need the statement silver Bvlgari Serpenti necklace. I found it overpowering here, yet, this was still one of the best looks on the night.
Edgy Elegance
Soo Joo Park fully embraced Balenciaga’s edgy aesthetic, pairing her ensemble with the house’s bold, head-to-toe styling. It’s a look that’s unmistakably Balenciaga, yet it feels undeniably her own, despite the fact that Joey King first wore this look to the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
Classic Italian Glamour
Stella Maxwell channeled Italian glamour in a Dolce & Gabbana black satin bustier gown. The classic silhouette highlighted her figure beautifully, embodying timeless allure with modern grace.
