It’s been a minute since we last saw Elle Fanning on the red carpet—June 2024 at the Tony Awards to be exact—so you can imagine my delight when she graced the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards at the Hollywood Athletic Club in Los Angeles last night. With a five-month hiatus behind her, Elle returned in a look that reminded us why she’s such a red carpet darling.
Elle wore a Dior black silk dress from the Spring 2025 collection, and while its delicate ‘50s-inspired silhouette—with a bow accenting the waist—was lovely, it was the addition of shoulder-deep leather gloves that truly transformed the look. These gloves, adorned with pearls, introduced a new chapter in the red carpet’s ongoing glove trend.
Personally, I adore the gloves. Without them, the dress—while perfectly pretty—might not have packed the same punch. From the front, it whispers elegance, but the side view reveals a sultriness that is undeniably captivating.
The accessories were equally considered: black satin Aquazzura pumps and Cartier diamond necklace.
This is Elle Fanning doing what she does best: merging vintage-inspired silhouettes with modern details for a result that feels both timeless and fresh. Her return to the red carpet was well worth the wait, and if this is a preview of what’s to come, I’m eager to see where she takes us next.
