On Saturday, the 13th annual LACMA Art+Film Gala honoured artist Simone Leigh and filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, which was co-chaired by LACMA trustee Eva Chow, Leonardo DiCaprio, Gucci Creative Director Sabato De Sarno, and Gucci Deputy CEO Stefano Cantino.
Gucci once again brought high fashion to the museum with the debut of Gucci Notte, Sabato De Sarno’s second eveningwear collection for the House. Building on last year’s Gucci Ancora Notte, this collection redefines eveningwear with a blend of effortless elegance and modern sophistication, celebrating Gucci’s savoir-faire at its finest. With awards season around the corner, I’m sure you’re as excited as I am to see these pieces on the red carpet.
Among the men, Omar Apollo stood out in a rich, Christmasy shade of red with luxe satin lapels, a boxy double-breasted fit, and split-hem trousers—a stylish twist from Sabato De Sarno that refreshes the long-trouser trend. This was also the first time we’ve seen Omar clean-shaven.
Even with bold reds and browns on the carpet, Taylor Zakhar Perez made an impact in a white Gucci suit accented with the label’s signature gold pin. The split-hem detail didn’t quite work for me here on the inner leg, as it disrupted the natural flow of the trousers.
At first glance, Pietro Castellitto’s suit seemed identical to Omar’s, but the cut differed, and his jacket also featured the Gucci gold pin. I feel that this look could have made a stronger impression if he’d chosen a tonal approach.
I know what you’re thinking: “Didn’t Andrew Garfield wear this suit to last year’s LACMA Gala?” While he did wear Gucci in 2023, this year’s suit is a deeper burgundy, with a tonal trim replacing last year’s white.
Archie Madekwe, known for his experimental style, surprised us by opting for a classic Gucci tuxedo, though his look did have a modern touch with split trousers.
For those who aren’t into monograms, Colman Domingo might just change your mind. He styled a velvet Gucci blazer with a silk lavallière shirt amplifying his status as one of the best dressed men in Hollywood.
One of my favourite shots of the night was Colman posing with Anna Wintour—I can’t wait to see them work together on the 2025 Met Gala.
Malcolm Washington also embraced Gucci’s monogram in a formal coat that balanced his laidback style with a touch of elegance.
Kaytranada and John David Washington kept the brown trend alive, though I’m leaning toward John’s shade, but I do wish he had ditched the bowtie.
Cooper Koch and Lee Soo-hyuk both went tonal in Gucci. You know cropped trousers aren’t my favourite, but Lee Soo-hyuk sold the look with swagger—perhaps the lush velvet won me over.
Javier Bardem went for the most classic menswear look of the night, while Lee Jung-jae added a contemporary brooch and Gucci loafers to his suit.
And you didn’t think we’d get through the night without one white socks-and-Gucci-loafers moment, did you? In the absence of Kingsley Ben-Adir, Dev Patel was on hand to carry on the look.
