Chanel brought its signature elegance to the 2024 Governors Awards in Hollywood on Sunday, dressing three celebrity ambassadors in Haute Couture.
Classic with a Feathered Twist
Lily-Rose Depp floated onto the red carpet in an original Chanel Fall 2018 Haute Couture creation—a white and grey draped silk chiffon gown adorned with a pink feathered camellia. While I initially questioned the grey portion of the design, I realized that an all-white version might have veered too bridal. The subtle contrast between the colours kept this look grounded in fashion rather than matrimony. Styled with Chanel shoes and High Jewelry, this timeless design feels quintessentially Chanel and perfectly suited to Lily-Rose’s elegance.
Still Searching for Chanel Magic
Lupita Nyong’o has yet to have her defining Chanel moment since becoming an ambassador, and I’m not sure this look is going to change that. The black lace Chanel Spring 2023 Haute Couture bustier dress, accented with a gold plumetis motif, is beautiful but feels somewhat safe for an actress known for her bold colour choices. For those who have been waiting for a splash of vibrancy, this subdued design might not have hit the mark. Still, her De Beers jewels added a touch of sparkle that elevated the look.
Predictable but Polished
Margaret Qualley stepped out in a Chanel Spring 2022 Haute Couture white satin dress embellished with delicate details. The silhouette is undoubtedly her go-to, which some might argue is becoming too predictable. However, the timeless elegance of the design, combined with her Chanel High Jewelry, cannot be denied.
