The house of Celine brought its signature blend of understated glamour and sharp tailoring to the 2024 Governors Awards in Los Angeles, dressing four celebrities in looks that commanded attention in their own unique ways.
Modern Glamour with a Vintage Touch
Nicole Kidman looked statuesque in a black Celine gown aptly named “The Jewellery Dress,” thanks to its embellished neckline which continued down the open back. The cold-shoulder silhouette and keyhole detail added a modern edge, while her 1920s OMEGA Art Nouveau wristwatch became a conversation piece all on its own. The platinum case, encrusted with 24 brilliant-cut diamonds, gave the illusion of an embellished sleeve, adding a layer of unexpected vintage glamour.
However, the hair left me slightly disappointed. After her return to those stunning curls last week, this purposely messy look felt out of sync with her look.

Crystal Confidence
Monica Barbaro stepped out of her usual understated comfort zone in a strapless Celine gown lavishly embroidered with crystals. The dress glittered gorgeously under the evening lights, ensuring Monica was impossible to miss on the red carpet. This look was a bold departure for her, and I couldn’t be happier that she leaned into this moment of high-octane glamour.

Sleek Simplicity at Its Best
Adrien Brody showcased Celine Homme’s mastery of tailoring in a tonal tuxedo that was both sharp and timeless. Styled with Celine Homme Tuxedo derbies, the look epitomised minimalist elegance—a perfect choice for him.
Tied-Up Sophistication
Filmmaker Sean Baker also donned a tonal Celine Homme tuxedo. I have to say I prefer the look with a tie, over Adrien’s bow tie.
