Taylor Swift Steps Out In New York In Vivienne Westwood

Taylor Swift has a history of reinventing her style to suit her evolving artistry, and Friday night in New York City was no exception. Spotted en route to dinner with Zoe Kravitz and Jerrod Carmichael, Taylor turned heads in a Vivienne Westwood Sunday corset dress that was impossible to miss.

With its spray-painted red and yellow corset top and blue-and-white striped skirt, this dress encapsulated her latest foray into fashion—a rebellious, glam side that feels distinctly Westwood.

Much like her music, Taylor’s fashion has evolved through countless eras. From preppy ensembles to soft cottagecore looks, she has dabbled in nearly every style narrative. But with this Vivienne Westwood dress, it seems she’s embracing a new aesthetic: rebellious glam. It’s a bold choice, one that exudes attitude and taps into Westwood’s legendary influence on avant-garde fashion.

While I commend Taylor for her curiosity in fashion and her willingness to try new things, my initial reaction was that it looks too big on the top, but realised that’s because the dress wasn’t designed to sit off the shoulders.

Also, this look feels more aligned with artists like Chappell Roan or Lana Del Rey, whose aesthetics lean naturally into Westwood’s rebellious spirit. Yet, Taylor makes it her own, pulling the ensemble back into Swift-ville with the addition of a Vivienne Westwood Granny Frame tote bag and burgundy Aquazzura Twist velvet mules. These details ground the outfit into her distinctive style.

Adding to the throwback charm, Taylor accessorized with a For Future Reference vintage 1970s bronze coin necklace and Jacquie Aiche graduated teardrop Sophia diamond earrings. And, of course, her signature curls were on full display, softening the boldness of the dress.
