Celebrities at the 2024 British Independent Film Awards

Here is a roundup from the rest of the looks from the 2024 British Independent Film Awards at The Roundhouse on Sunday in London.

Confusion on the Carpet

Jessie Buckley, usually known for her daring style choices, missed the mark this time in an Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood Spring 2025 draped bustier crop top with slit sleeves and trousers. Was it the overload of details, the seasonally inappropriate design, or just a flawed execution? Maybe it’s all three.

Be careful what you wish for?

For months, we’ve been urging celebrities to embrace the boldness of Dior’s Resort 2025 collection, untouched. Mia McKenna-Bruce delivered, wearing the purple tartan wool bustier dress with its embellished bib resembling battle chainmail armour. While Mia manages to pull it off with confidence, so therefore my curiosity about seeing these pieces in full has been satisfied, however, I won’t be asking for it again.  You may remember that Antonia Gentry opted to modify the look for the ‘Time Cut’ screening last month.

The boots seal the deal

Bora Aksu designs are typically light and feminine, yet Indira Varma brought an edge to this lace creation with her lace-up boots. The styling made all the difference here, grounding an otherwise ethereal design with a dose of cool.

Black-Tie Glamour

Saura Lightfoot-Leon dazzled in a Miu Miu sablé satin halter gown. I love how the crystal and beaded embroidery amplified the black floral print, giving the gown a luxurious edge. While the bodice wasn’t perfect, the overall design and her styling, including Miu Miu slingbacks, won me over.

Simplicity at its finest

Olivia Colman opted for a Dolce & Gabbana black silk satin gown with a pussy-bow detail and front slit. It’s a classic look, effortlessly elegant and smooth in its execution. Olivia knows the power of restraint on the red carpet, and this understated look is a testament to her timeless approach.

Romantic Lace

Ambika Mod kept it simple in a Rabanne Resort 2025 black lace dress layered with a modesty slip. Her choice of Jennifer Chamandi strappy sandals and Tiffany & Co. diamond earrings added just the right amount of sparkle to elevate the ensemble.

Summer vibes on a winter night

Maria Bakalova reminded us that warm weather is always a mindset in her navy and white polka-dot strapless design by Self-Portrait. While it felt slightly out of sync with the season, her fresh approach was a welcome break from the evening’s darker tones.
