Chanel transported its Métiers d’Art 2025 show to Hangzhou’s historic West Lake, a Unesco World Heritage site, unveiling a collection under the night sky that celebrated the artistry of its ateliers. The venue’s significance was unmistakable: Coco Chanel herself chose a depiction of West Lake to grace the largest screen in her Rue Cambon apartment. Against this enchanting backdrop, the brand welcomed an illustrious lineup of guests, each dressed in Chanel’s finest.
Thai actress and singer Rebecca Patricia Armstrong attended her second Chanel show in a look that encapsulated the brand’s signature elegance. Her ensemble—crafted from boucle fabric with chiffon sleeves and a delicate skirt—captured Chanel’s timeless femininity. Paired with Chanel accessories, the outfit radiated an understated sophistication that still felt youthful and fresh. Rebecca’s choice maintained her effervescent energy, proving her budding alignment with the house.
Lupita Nyong’o continued to embrace her new role as a Chanel ambassador in a salmon-hued tweed coat from the Fall 2024 Haute Couture collection.
She kept the feathered scarf from the runway, which added an air of playful luxury to her regal look. While we remain hesitant about this partnership, this outfit exuded the refined flair we’ve come to expect from her. The ambassadorial transition may still be a work in progress, but this ensemble felt like a step in the right direction, and it was perfect for the occasion.
Tilda Swinton attended with her partner, artist Sandro Kopp. Her grey knit coat from Chanel’s Fall 2024 Haute Couture collection might seem subtle at first glance, but its green embellishments sparkled beautifully under the right light. Paired with white trousers which look too long with the boots she styled them with, the look exuded her signature androgynous presence.
Lucy Boynton, always a quintessential Chanel muse, opted for a blue-and-green trouser suit from the Spring 2025 collection. The retro camera-shaped Chanel quilted bag she carried added her signature quirky touch. Completing the look with pearl-accented Chanel shoes, Lucy achieved a harmonious blend of classic and contemporary. Even Chanel’s often-divisive footwear felt right at home with this outfit. She was accompanied to the event with her beau, Murdo Mitchell.
This event turned into a couples’ affair with Douglas Booth and Bel Powley making an elegant appearance. Douglas kept it relaxed in a Chanel ensemble that highlighted the brand’s quieter, laid-back side. Meanwhile, Bel sparkled in a sequined tweed set, glistening under the lights in true Métiers d’Art spirit. Together, they showcased how Chanel works effortlessly for both casual and high-glamour moments.
Miguel embraced Chanel’s opulence by layering multiple necklaces with his red, white, and blue tweed jacket. The necklaces underscored the luxe appeal of his look, elevating a classic piece into something undeniably bold. Miguel’s styling reinforced how Chanel’s craftsmanship adapts to modern, daring sensibilities.
