The 2024 Gotham Awards held on Monday evening in New York City brought out three notable attendees standing out in Dior.
A Return to Classic Elegance
For those who weren’t sold on Elle Fanning’s divisive oversized tailoring from Bottega Veneta earlier last week, this Dior moment should make you happy. Wearing a green silk pleated gown, Elle delivered everything we’ve come to love about her red carpet style: delicate fabrics, soft hues, and a graceful poise that feels effortless. Cartier jewels added a touch of sparkle, but the simplicity of the gown was the real star. This is classic Elle Fanning at her best.
Refined Glamour
Demi Moore has been keeping us on our toes in 2024 with some bold sartorial choices, but her Dior purple silk pleated gown was a return to the kind of elegance we expect from her. The deep, rich hue exudes sophistication, but it was the Bvlgari High Jewelry necklace—platinum set with mother-of-pearl elements and over 77 carats of diamonds—that elevated the look. Paired with a High Jewelry pink sapphire ring, Demi served pure Hollywood glamour. I’m starting to think that purple really is her colour.
Brown Suit Blues
The brown suit has been a major trend this year, and Thomas Doherty embraced it in a Dior Men’s Collection silk peak lapel tuxedo. While the slim-fit tailoring was immaculate, a white shirt is always my least favourite styling choice for a brown suit. It’s a safe pairing, but one that lacks the intrigue we’ve seen with other colour combinations. Still, there’s no denying that Thomas knows how to wear a suit.
