Saoirse Ronan made an appearance at the 2024 Gotham Awards in New York on Monday night, but unlike her fellow Louis Vuitton ambassador Zendaya, the Irish actress wasn’t wearing Louis Vuitton.
Instead, she opted for a Schiaparelli Fall 2024 Haute Couture dusty brown wool satin bustier dress. The gown, enhanced with tonal 3D thorn embroidery and a satin rose at the neckline, was a dramatic and unexpected choice. It’s the kind of look that feels both challenging and refined, a blend that reflects Saoirse’s growing confidence in experimenting with her red carpet style.
It’s a shame, though, about the shoes. I can’t say I’m a fan of the champagne-hued satin pumps she paired with this dress. Matching pumps would have been a more cohesive choice. That said, I might have been swayed had she opted for the thorn-embroidered pumps shown on the runway. Those would have tied the whole look together beautifully.
But let’s not dwell on the shoes for too long because there’s more to appreciate here. Saoirse’s style evolution has been one of the more exciting narratives in this tail end of 2024. She has moved beyond predictable silhouettes and safe choices, embracing designs that spark conversation.
This look represents that bold step forward for Saoirse. It’s a reminder of how far she’s come in owning her space on the red carpet.
Ultimately, I’m here for this new chapter in Saoirse’s style. She’s taking risks, and that’s something worth celebrating—even if the shoes didn’t quite rise to the occasion.
