Tika Sumpter was serving major leading-lady energy as she stepped onto the red carpet at Cineworld Leicester Square for the ‘Sonic The Hedgehog 3’ premiere in London last night. If there’s one thing Tika understands, it’s how to create a moment that commands attention.
Now, let’s talk about mixing metals. As you know, it ranks pretty high on my list of styling pet peeves—third only to painfully obvious illusion panels and hemlines that drag across the floor unnecessarily. Yet, here I am, completely captivated by Tika in this strapless ombre silver to gold gown that somehow feels like it was sculpted from liquid metal. Crafted by Albanian designer Valdrin Sahiti, the gown was impossible to look away from.
The metallic fabric created a mesmerising, slippery-steel effect that caught the light with every movement. While the reflective quality was a showstopper on its own, what truly elevated this look were the sculpted floral accents adorning the bodice. These details added an element of artistry to the gown.
Tika kept the rest of her styling simple, allowing the dress to do the talking. Gold cluster earrings provided just the right amount of sparkle without competing with the gown’s statement. It’s a balancing act, and she nailed it.
While I may still hesitate when it comes to mixing metallics, Tika’s look reminds me that sometimes, the rules are made to be broken.
