Ayo Edebiri, last year’s reigning winner for The Bear, returned to the Golden Globes red carpet as a nominee in her signature unconventional style.
Wearing a custom Loewe grey wool tailored suit with draped pants inspired by the brand’s Spring/Summer 2025 men’s collection, Ayo continued to embrace her unique sartorial approach. The look was completed with Loewe Oxford shoes and their signature gold feather necklace reimagined as a tie.
This outfit is bound to spark mixed reactions. For those who struggle with Ayo’s poise red carpet, this will likely feel like a miss. I’ll admit, finding a red carpet photo that truly captured her in a good light, and lighting) was a challenge.
Awards season traditionalists probably won’t embrace this departure from gowns and glamour either. However, if you’ve grown to appreciate Ayo’s ability to reflect her individuality through fashion, this might be a win in your book.
For me, it wasn’t love at first sight, despite learning that this look was inspired by the Armani suit Julia Roberts wore to the 1990 Globes when she won her award for Steel Magnolias.
But when I saw the social media photoshoot showcasing the look from dynamic angles and under controlled lighting, something clicked. This is a case where context transforms the impression.
