Cynthia Erivo, nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for Wicked, attended the 2025 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday in a label she often leans on for major occasions: Louis Vuitton.
If you had told me there would be a day when I preferred an Emma Stone Louis Vuitton look over Cynthia’s on the red carpet, I’d have said it was impossible. But here we are.
The hand-embroidered black lace and silver sequins undoubtedly glistened beautifully under the lights and may have been more impactful in person. However, the architectural peplum is giving me major 2022 déjà vu.
I can’t help but think of Hoyeon at the 2022 Critics’ Choice Awards and Gemma Chan at the 2022 Met Gala. This was a conversation-worthy silhouette back then, but three years later, it feels tired.
Also, the bodice looks uncomfortably tight. Perhaps the halter design could have benefited from longer straps to improve the fit.
This is a rare miss from Cynthia during awards season. Let’s hope her next look brings her back to the impeccable style we know and love.
