At the close of last year, I predicted that menswear-inspired fashion would continue to dominate in 2025. Ellie Bamber just confirmed my suspicions at the William Tell premiere, held at The Ham Yard Hotel on Wednesday in London.
Known for her penchant for ultra-feminine red carpet moments—often courtesy of Chanel—Ellie made a sharp pivot, embracing a tailored Celine pinstripe suit.
While women rocking suits isn’t groundbreaking in itself, this resurgence has a distinctly modern edge: the tie. Ellie’s ensemble leaned into androgyny with the inclusion of this accessory, but the overall look maintained a feminine softness thanks to her flowing wavy locks. The juxtaposition between sharp tailoring and romantic styling gave the outfit a timeless yet contemporary appeal.
This isn’t just about a suit; it’s about the cultural shift in how women are using fashion to blur traditional gender lines while keeping individuality intact. Ellie’s take felt intentional and refined, staying true to her red-carpet elegance while stepping out of her sartorial comfort zone.
I, for one, am excited to see how other stars interpret this trend as the year progresses. Menswear for women is evolving—tie and all—and Ellie Bamber is proving it’s anything but predictable.
