Barbour × ERDEM is a love letter to the natural world

The British designers share an affinity for nature, so it’s no surprise they work seamlessly together when they join forces. Welcoming us into their floral-filled garden, the pair have teamed up once again, adding ERDEM’s whimsical prints to Barbour’s signature wax-jacket silhouettes.

It was on a sunny day in September that ERDEM first teased us with glimpses of its partnership with independent British heritage label Barbour. His SS24 show opened with the Canadian-born designer sending an oversized, longline Barbour coat—swathed in a hodgepodge of floral prints—down the runway. Who would’ve guessed this was just the beginning of a blossoming relationship between the two British labels? Barbour, the 130-year-old family-owned brand—best known for its hard-wearing wax jackets—has slowly but surely been making inroads with the fashion-forward crowd. We saw it team up with Copenhagen’s cult-favourite label GANNI, and now it can tick off ERDEM from its list of collaborations. The pair have reunited to create a capsule collection of waxy outerwear, clad in ERDEM’s signature florals, of course.

Inspired by a shared fascination with the natural world, each jacket is named after a different plant or flower, available in four styles: Dahlia, Beauflower, Clover, and Constance. Combining the utilitarian elements of Barbour’s outerwear with ERDEM’s sensitive approach to design, the result is a series of jackets underscored with patchwork tartan and washes of dark florals, fastened with a chunky belt at the waist. The Dahlia iteration flaunts an “exposing peplum,” where the bottom of the jacket juts out like an upside-down flower. Other highlights include grommets tracing the outskirts of the wax jackets, a jumbo corduroy collar, and a reversible hood.

As an extension of their partnership, the labels have collaborated on Barbour’s ongoing Re-Loved initiative. Since 2019, Barbour has given customers the chance to recycle their old, well-worn jackets, restoring them to be worn anew. For this collaboration, ERDEM and Barbour have taken 25 previously owned Beaufort jackets and revived them with fresh collars and silver hardware details.

In a campaign shot by Jackie Nickerson, a model wears the wax jackets as she poses among wild shrubbery and rusting debris—jackets fastened and paired with an array of voluminous tulle gowns that cascade to the grass and protrude outward. It’s official: gardening has never looked so stylish.

The capsule collection is set to hit shop windows in January 2025 and will be available to buy at Barbour.com.
