Li Bingbing Wore Schiaparelli Haute Couture To The Weibo Awards

At the Weibo Awards, where she was named Weibo’s Most Influential Actress Internationally, Li Bingbing captivated us all with her impeccable red carpet style, reinforcing her Hollywood breakthrough status.

The Chinese actress chose a striking Schiaparelli Fall 2024 Haute Couture ensemble, a black velvet masterpiece featuring a short-sleeved top intricately embroidered with silver metal and sequins. This design paid homage to the iconic Schiaparelli “Apollo of Versailles” cape from the legendary 1938 Zodiac collection—a bold and thoughtful nod to celestial elegance.

What made this moment even more intriguing was the duality of her look. For her social media photoshoot, Li styled the ensemble with the matching embroidered long gloves seen on the runway, delivering high-impact editorial drama. However, for the red carpet and while accepting her award, she wisely opted to forgo the gloves, letting the rest of the outfit shine.

This decision elevated the look. While gloves continue to trend, they often feel more editorial than practical. For me, skipping them allowed her to maintain an air of sophistication as the gloves might have tipped the balance into C-3PO territory—not ideal for receiving an award.

Li Bingbing’s choice struck the perfect balance between honouring Schiaparelli’s avant-garde spirit and ensuring her outfit remained poised and award receiving appropriate.

Boucheron jewels completed her look.
