Fashion and film collided in the most stylish way at the Curzon Mayfair Cinema, where Miu Miu premiered AUTOBIOGRAFIA DI UNA BORSETTA, the 29th edition of the brand’s Women’s Tales series. Directed by British auteur Joanna Hogg, the short film explores the relationship between memory, identity, and – of course – clothing.
After the screening, Hogg sat down with Penny Martin to discuss the film’s inspiration and the role of clothing as a character in storytelling. But, as always, the real spectacle unfolded on the red carpet and later at Langan’s Brasserie, where guests served up some unforgettable Miu Miu moments.
Leg warmers and underboob? Alexa Chung said, ‘Why not?’
Alexa Chung turned heads – and raised eyebrows – in a look that blurred the line between edgy and perplexing. She wore a Miu Miu Spring 2025 bodysuit with cut-outs that delivered a serving of underboob, paired with those grey knit gloves that recently made an appearance on Lucy Boynton – only this time, they were doubling as leg warmers. The TV personality, once synonymous with schoolgirl-inspired chic, seems to be embracing a new era. I’m intrigued, but I haven’t fully bought into Alexa 2.0 just yet.
Surprisingly muted
If anyone was going to rock Alexa’s look, I would’ve bet on Emma Corrin. But Emma surprised us all by opting for a more understated ensemble – a blend of Miu Miu Spring 2025 runway pieces that felt like a sartorial palate cleanser. It was polished, minimal, and refreshingly unexpected from someone we know loves to push the fashion envelope.

Bel Powley once again proved she understands the Miu Miu aesthetic better than most. Her crisp white shirt-sleeve shirt, contrasting black vest, and pleated skirt exuded the brand’s signature girlish charm. The only hiccup? The tan bag felt like an afterthought – a black accessory would’ve elevated the look to perfection.
plays it safe – and wins
Some might call Charithra Chandran’s look safe, but I’d argue she played her cards perfectly. Sticking to Miu Miu’s signature pieces from the Spring 2025 collection, she avoided the experimental pitfalls that that some might say Alexa fell into. Classic, elegant, and very much in her comfort zone – sometimes, simplicity is the smartest move.
Miu Miu’s night at the movies gave us cinematic insight and sartorial surprises. If there’s one takeaway from this Women’s Tales premiere, it’s that the Miu Miu woman is forever evolving – sometimes with gloves on her legs and a hint of underboob to match.
