Ali Wong brought high-fashion drama to the 2025 Directors Guild of America Awards, proving that she’s never afraid to take a risk on the red carpet.
On this occasion she transported us to another dimension in an Iris Van Herpen Fall 2018 Haute Couture gown.
Iris Van Herpen’s futuristic and innovative approach to fashion was on full display here. This wasn’t just a gown—it was a spectacle. The sculptural, almost gravity-defying silhouette felt like something straight out of a science fiction epic, blending art, technology, and craftsmanship in a way that few designers can achieve. The intricate layers and textures gave the look a sense of movement, making it feel alive rather than just worn.
I can only imagine how breathtaking this must have been in motion—fluid, dynamic, and captivating from every angle. However, I do wish she had made a few styling tweaks. A skin-toned bodysuit would have perfected the illusion, making the design feel even more seamless. And while her hair choice wasn’t a deal-breaker, a sleek, pulled-back style would have enhanced the futuristic aesthetic.
Regardless, Ali delivered a bold fashion moment that stood out in a sea of more expected looks.
