Ariana Grande Wore Louis Vuitton To The 'Wicked' Japan Premiere

The Wicked press tour has been a globe-trotting fashion marathon, and Japan appears to be the final stop for this award-winning film—at least until Part II kicks off. And while the tour has given us plenty to talk about (both good and bad), nothing has been more debated than Ariana Grande’s partnership with Louis Vuitton.

As you know, I haven’t exactly been singing the praises of this collaboration. From questionable fits to underwhelming designs, her Vuitton looks have left me longing for the fashion magic the label serve elsewhere. The BAFTAs on Sunday all but confirmed my suspicions that this union just wasn’t meant to be… but oh, how I love to be proven wrong.

Because when Ariana stepped onto the red carpet in Japan wearing a custom Louis Vuitton ivory strapless gown, I had to admit—this was it.

Fit? Perfect.
Crease and dent free? Check.
No Glinda references? Check.
Not pink? Major check.

After three misfires, we finally hit the Grande x Vuitton jackpot. As the saying now goes, “fourth time’s the charm.”

While she steered clear of overt Wicked nods, there was a delicate touch of pink thanks to the Philip Treacy hairpiece made from sakura flowers, a beautiful tribute to Japan’s national bloom. It was the perfect finishing touch to her elegant updo, bringing a softness to the structured simplicity of the gown. Niwaka Jewelry added a hint of sparkle without overpowering the look.

Now, as much as I’m celebrating this Vuitton win, I still can’t shake the impact of her yellow Ralph Lauren Collection gown from the London premiere. That one remains undefeated in my book (and, judging by the results of her press tour fashion poll, I’m not alone).

But does this Vuitton look dethrone Ralph Lauren as Ariana’s best press tour moment?

It’s kind of neck and neck for me. What about you?
