The British designer’s newest venture for the Mithridate Autumn/Winter 2025 collection took inspiration from Mick Jagger.
“Global luxury brand,” the newly appointed Creative Director Daniel Fletcher tells Wonderland backstage after his show, after being asked his vision for the future of Mithridate. No small feat for a debut collection, Fletcher did exactly what he set out to do by blending British heritage with timeless silhouettes for a wardrobe that spans from London to Shanghai.
By merging two worlds together, the British designer put a heavy emphasis on juxtaposition. Some of the womenswear looks included a drop-waist ball gown, while others were made up of knitted tops accompanied by schoolboy-like shorts. Icons of British fashion such as the trench coat and Oxford shirt were re-imagined with a contemporary lens, where the new Mithridate emblematic “M” was spotted delicately placed across tops and accessories, notably beaded onto a tie.
“Mick Jagger will always be an inspiration,” Fletcher shares with us. Indeed, the Rolling Stones frontman was plastered across the show’s mood board. Not only his standing in British culture, but also his daring sense of style, which often blurs the gap of rockstar grit and English sophistication, the masculine and the feminine, seeped into this collection. Take for example the long silk scarves that were draped on the models’ backs as a nod to the 60s and 70s free-flowing sense of style.
Romantic yet modern, Mithridate’s AW25 collection explored textures like no tomorrow. Fluffy knits sat next to matte leathers, while beading was the detail of the season and corduroy blazers were the staple of the hour. The menswear offering especially lent a certain English charm, where relaxed suiting in varying colourways looked as if it was plucked straight out of a sophisticated man’s walk in a park in Oxford.
All in all, it’s a promising future at Mithridate, under the hands of the talented Daniel Fletcher. We, for one, will be keeping our eyes peeled.
