Demi Moore, and her and dog, Pilaf, stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, and while she dished on everything from her The Substance awards season buzz to a producer once calling her a “popcorn actress” (the audacity!), I was, of course, laser-focused on her fashion moment outside the ABC studios in LA.
Demi arrived in a full Schiaparelli look—because if you’re going to do high fashion on a late-night talk show, you might as well do high fashion. And trust me, there was no mistaking this for anything else. The clues were all there:
First, the wool coat embroidered with the house’s signature Measuring Tape motif in gold thread—a sartorial wink at the precision of couture. Then came the gilded brass ear drop earring, because subtlety isn’t in Schiaparelli’s vocabulary. The halter dress? Secured with a mouth bijou buckle, naturally. And let’s not forget the leather keyhole mules, a surrealist touch that only added to the intrigue. But the pièce de résistance? The Bijoux handbag—adorned with Schiaparelli’s anatomical bijoux in enamel and hammered golden brass, forming a trompe-l’œil face alongside a sun embroidered in gold sequins.
Even with all the dazzling gold accents, this was an understated look by Demi’s usual high-glam standards. It’s playful, but effortless while still making a statement. And it proves that, even after decades in Hollywood, Demi Moore is still having fun with fashion.
Now, I need her back on the awards circuit. The AFI Awards luncheon, Critics’ Choice Awards, PGA Awards, BAFTAs, SAG Awards—bring them all on.
